Some European countries suspend use of AstraZeneca vaccine

7 European countries on Thursday stopped the use of a batch of one million doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine, sent to 17 countries of the European Union, after having detected blood circulation problems in some vaccinated people.

Denmark would have suspended the use of this anti-Covid vaccine following fears related to the formation of blood clots in some vaccinated people, according to the health authority of this country, extending the list of European countries having taken similar measures.

This suspension comes after reports of serious cases of blood clots in people who have been vaccinated with this AstraZeneca anti-Covid-19 vaccine, according to the statement from the National Health Agency, saying that it cannot be not conclude that there is a link between the vaccine and blood clots

In view of the refusal of certain European countries to suspend this vaccine, African leaders must remain vigilant, since most of the doses received by others African countries come from India which also holds an operating license for this vaccine. Its use remains disputed even if the British Prime Minister says it is reliable.
