Décès de la grande mère d'Obama

 

Sarah Obama la grand-mère de l'ancien président américain Barack Obama est décédée ce matin, à l'âge de 99 ans dans un hôpital de Kisumu, dans l'ouest du Kenya a déclaré à l'AFP sa fille Marsat Onyango.

 

Sarah Obama aurait été admise au Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referal Hospital de Kisumu, selon Marsat Onyango sans indiquer les raisons de son hospitalisation.  

Selon médias kenyans celle-ci serait morte vers 4h45 suite à une complication de son diabète. 

"Mama Sarah"  comme l'appelait affectueusement ses proches et de nombreux kényans, était devenue une célébrité nationale  après la visite en 2006 de son petit-fils Barack Obama bien qu'il n'y ai aucun lien de sang entre eux, alors que celui-ci n'était que sénateur de l'Illinois.

Ivory Coast, fourth largest producer of rubber in the world

 

The Ivory Coast rubber industry is doing well, Africa's leading producer, the country is now ranked 4th in the world. Given the production of rubber in 2020 was around 950,000 tonnes, an increase of 21% compared to 2019.

 

Following the launch of an ambitious development plan for the sector in the amount of 40 million euros per year for a period of 9 years. This required 110,000 hectares of rubber trees in order to open up new opportunities in order to revitalize the sector.  

 

The country has around 170,000 producers who operate around 500,000 hectares of plantations. 

 

With an estimated income of around CFAF 2,780.53 per kilo, many producers are abandoning cocoa cultivation to turn to the cultivation of rubber, which they deem advantageous.  

 

However, the Ivorian planters as elsewhere quickly became disillusioned because thousands of hectares of plantations having reached maturity could not sell their products because the supply was greater than the demand, which led to the fall in prices.
